weekend.

so sad the weekend is over :( . despite the cold, i had such a solid weekend, and got to spend a lot of time with sam!

of course we spent a lot of it studying, as we usually do, but we changed it up, hit up a different cafe on friday. we got our beverages served in cute cosies! we followed up our study sesh with an amazing slow cooked chicken stew and mix of brown and red rice, yummm. i need to bust out that slow cooker more often... we finished off the day by hitting up our friends show at rancho relaxo, which was great fun, and we got to catch up with people we haven't seen in a while!

so cosy.
that sam.
rice medley.
chicken stew with mushrooms, peppers, and chickpeas.

the next day was the usual, studying. i also had to work, so i got to spend the night at a packed theatre showing a serbian play. the crowd was pretty chill tho, pretty solid shift.

essay notes.

sunday was such a wonderful day! i needed to head over to the bathurst and eglington area to visit a museum at a synagogue for a class assignment. it was actually really neat, it was at the beth tzedec synagogue, which houses the fifth largest collection of jewish art in north america. since it closed early, we had lots of time to spare before dinner, so we hit up a cafe and did some work.

since we dont get to spend time together on valentines day, sam planned a surprise dinner for me. he wouldn't tell me where we were going, he just told me which stop we'd be getting off at. (i did figure it out on our way over tho)
we went to the raw food restaurant live food bar, which is located right across from dupont station. i know raw food sounds a little wierd for some people, but we've been to a few places and tried different things, and it is soo good. and live is by far the best place we've eaten.

we decided to start off with:

Jicama Poutine (raw)
chili seasoned jicama, miso gravy, macadamia cheddar cheese, cashew sour cream

then we ordered two things to split for dinner:

BBQ 'Pulled' Burdock (cooked)
burdock and tofu in chipotle BBQ sauce with creamy sesame cashew slaw on a gluten free bun with pickles and veggie chips

Pizza (raw)
thin walnut crust, herb pesto, arugula, artichokes, mushrooms, cashew chevre

jicama poutine.
last one.
 bbq pulled burdock.
pizza.

this was one of the best meals i've ever had at a restaurant, and it was all vegan, gluten free, and mostly raw. not only are you really satisfied and full, but you aren't left feeling sick, or too stuffed. oh. we also had dessert, buttt we just dove in and polished it off before i could take a couple photos. we split a raw raspberry strudel, and a chocolate dream bar. mmm.

after dinner, we went back home, and exchanged little gifts. i got a new plushy dog/wolf (i've got a pretty nice collection going) and beautiful roses!

we also dived into the strawberry marshmallows i got sam as part of his gift :)

i named him gaston.
roses.
best marshmallows.

hope everyone had a great weekend!
